Byrne Community Center | UNIONDALE, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Uniondale, New York and nearby surrounding communities. We are dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for local youth and families by providing a comprehensive, intergenerational, and multicultural gathering place. Our flagship center at 925 Jerusalem Avenue offers a wide range of programs including after-school enrichment, youth recreation, wellness workshops, fitness classes, educational seminars, and community events. The Little Lighthouse Foundations (LLF) Beauty All Around is a combination program that previously took place at the Lotus House Womens Shelter, incorporating fun crafts and activities for the children and beauty and wellness treatments for the ladies. At LLFs Beauty All Around program, volunteers would team up to provide different beauty treatments and services for the ladies of the Lotus House Womens shelter. The Little Lighthouse Foundations (LLF) Adopt a Floor is a hands-on activity experience for volunteers and patients and is hosted at Nicklaus Childrens Hospital and past facilities including Holtz Childrens Hospital and Jackson Pediatric. LLFs Adopt a Floor provides patients with fun activities, games, arts & crafts, entertainment, and more for the patients and their families. Safety is always taken into precaution as the program aims to create a unique experience both for volunteers and the youth. Monday, October 31st, we had our DGFG Live Story Hour with special guest Renee Dieffenderfer! Tuesday, November 1st, we held our Story Hour program at Chapman Partnership and he hosted a Halloween Party with fun activities! Wednesday, November 2nd, we held our Mindful Hour at Touching Miami with Love joined by 420 Space Yoga. We were also joined by special guest Manny Orozco! Thursday, November 3rd, we held our Craft Night Program at Lotus House, as well as our Adopt- A- Floor program at Nicklaus Childrens Hospital. LLFs Chapter Leaders are the heart and soul of what we do! Chapter Leaders are lead volunteers that plan and organize each individual program as well as manage the volunteers and act as the point of contact for each program.
